Yes, I know it’s been much longer than three days since my last blog. I got food poisoning on August 14th and thought I was going to die. I don’t know if you’re all aware of this, but don’t eat old meat. It can make you very, very sick. And if it’s really spicy meat, you can’t tell that it’s old. Anyway, I’m sure you’re all very happy to have me back.

Keanu Reeves is a bit freaky to me. I know he is loved by millions, but there’s something almost robotic about him. I love his voice. It’s very calming. The rest of him is unsettling to me. I’m not sure what it is. So yeah, I guess I’m not a huge fan but I’m not a hater either.

Keanu means butt plug in Swahili. Nah. I made that up. Keanu means something like cool breeze in Hawaiian. That’s groovy I guess. He is kind of a cold cool robotic breeze. Keanu just celebrated his 46th birthday having been born on September 2, 1964. He was born in Beirut, Lebanon which is kind of cool. You know who else came from Lebanon by way of Ottawa, Canada? Lebanezer Scrooge himself, Paul Anka. But I digress…..

Keanu lived all over the place as a kid. His dad earned his GED while in prison for selling heroin. Proud. Keanu’s mom remarried like twelve or fifty or four times or something. It was a bunch. Keanu had to keep getting used to his new daddy. That must have been tough. He got expelled from schools and ended up dropping out. That’s not really a surprise considering his upbringing. And I guess it doesn’t really matter since he went on to become a huge movie star.

Keanu started getting TV roles in the early 80′s and then started working on movies. One of his earliest movies was Youngblood with hot guy Rob Lowe. Keanu hit it big in 1989 with Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Some of his other movies are:

Keanu continues to have a steady film career. He has a movie coming out next year called Passengers, and he has five more movies in development. He’s also a bass player and has played in different groups (Dogstar, Becky). My friend got Keanu sweat on her when she went to a Dogstar concert. That wouldn’t excite me. I remember setting up my wonderful and beautiful niece Nicole’s very first email account for her in the 90′s. She asked for the user name “AaronFan”. Her first crush was Aaron Carter. How sweet. I didn’t really know who he was at the time, but I eventually learned. Many teen idols fade after a year or two. Aaron hasn’t really ever gone away.

Aaron Charles Carter was born on December 7, 1987 in Florida and was pushed into show business shortly after. He started singing in the band Dead End when he was seven. Do little kids really want to do that? I wonder about young celebrities. Are they there because they want to be or are they there because mom and dad want them there? Anyway, Aaron made his first solo appearance when he got to open for his brother’s band in 1997. He was nine.

AARON CARTER TIDBITS

Some of Aaron’s movies include Fat Albert and Popstar. I actually watched Popstar which Aaron had a starring role in. I didn’t watch it to see Aaron. I watched it to see a former love of mine, Leif Garrett. Leif played the janitor. Fitting.

I watched Aaron on Dancing with the Stars last year. He and his partner finished fifth. I felt bad for him because he tried so hard and I could see the disappointment in his eyes each time the judges critiqued him. I’ve been in that situation. Not with dancing, but with my music. I would try so hard but never knew exactly what my teacher wanted. There are some things that are hard to teach/explain. I applaud Aaron for his hard work on that show. Maybe it’s an age thing. I don’t know. I just remember always feeling bad for him because he worked so hard and it seemed like the judges were always putting him down. Balls.

I believe Aaron is hard at work on some new music. He seems to have done so much already in life and he’s barely just 20. I hope he doesn’t get burned out and I hope he’s doing what he truly wants to do, not what others want him to do. He’s a talented guy and hard working. I expect we’ll be hearing about this “kid” in the future.

Welcome to my 11th review of The Partridge Family. This episode is titled “This is My Song” and originally aired on December 4, 1970. It’s about when Keith can’t come up with any new songs. He’s going through a dry spell. He’s all panicked and stuff because the group has to record a live album in two weeks. Talk about pressure! Poor Keith. Anyway, Danny tries to help out by writing songs. Yeah, right. Danny’s songwriting skills consist of copying. He first comes up with Born Free and Moulin Rouge before copying Keith’s song. Once again, the episode features the awesome Danny Bonaduce. BTW, this is one of the few episodes not to have any guest stars.

The show opens with Reuben on the sofa snoring very loudly. Why is he there? Shirley is reading on the sofa next to him and scratching the family dog, Simone. (He disappeared after the first season.) Laurie and Danny are watching TV (Moulin Rouge). Keith walks in with his shaggy doo and Reuben (who is now awake thanks to Danny) jumps on him about a new song. They have a live record date in ten days and Keith is supposed to write a song. Since Keith is going through a dry spell, Danny decides to help by “knocking out a couple of songs”. Is that anything like knocking out a transvestite?

Danny has thought of a great new song. He calls Reuben over (and away from his date with Bonnie Kleinschmidt) and asks Laurie to write the song down while he sings it to her. Reuben and Laurie realize that what Danny is humming is the song from the movie they watched last night (Moulin Rouge). Susan Dey actually sings in this scene and sounds great. I wonder why she never made an album. If Danny Bonaduce can put out an album….. I’m just saying.

Danny comes into Shirley’s bedroom to whistle his newest song for her. It turns out to be Born Free. Why he so stupid?

Keith finally has an idea for a new song and excitedly rushes into his room to work on it. The rest of the house is asleep except for Shirley who tells him not to stay up too late. Keith continues to pound out his new song on the guitar all the while Danny is in the next room taking it all in. The walls are apparently very thin and Danny is able to steal Keith’s song, but Danny doesn’t know it’s Keith’s song. He’s asleep! He’s learning Keith’s song by osmosis.

Cut to the next morning while Danny is singing “his” new song to Laurie, Shirley, and Reuben. They compliment him and tell him how great he is. Keith comes running in from a morning jog looking like a cartoon character. When he hears Danny’s new song, he starts freaking out. He says it’s his song that he wrote last night. Nobody believes him because he sucks.

Shirley and Keith are in his room and realize how paper thin the walls are when they hear Danny and Chris laughing. Keith purposely writes a piece of crap song to see if Danny will steal it again.

Danny comes down to breakfast the next morning and is depressed because he wrote another song last night but it’s garbage. Keith plays the POS song on the guitar and Danny accuses him of even stealing his poo. Everyone laughs.

Cut to the live concert. Shirley is trying to make Danny feel better by telling him he made Keith’s song better. Uh huh. Keith introduces the song as a collaborative effort between himself and Danny. They sing the song, but it’s not David Cassidy’s voice. I guess this song was recorded with the pros before they knew David could sing. But wait! There’s about two lines in the bridge where Cassidy is singing. What the hell? Odd. Did they think nobody would notice?

Did Tracy have a speaking line at all in this show? The song they sang was a bossa nova with some syncopation (off the beat rhythms). Tracy nailed her part a couple times on the cowbell. I was impressed.

The tag of the show is Danny wanting to bring back the bunny hop. He thinks it would be nice if they all hopped off stage after the concert. Danny, why you so stupid?

I think Susan Dey is beautiful. I never gave her a thought when I was a kid watching The Partridge Family. I was busy drooling over Jeremy Gelbwaks (Chris Partridge) and learning all of their groovy songs. Now that I’m an adult, I see that Susan Dey was a really beautiful girl.

Susan Dey was born Susan Hallock Smith on December 10, 1952 in Illinois. She was 17 when she got the job of Laurie Partridge on The Partridge Family. She was discovered modeling in New York when she was offered the job. During the filming of the pilot and some of the early episodes, she had to live with a guardian until she turned 18 (December 1970). She had no acting experience at all when she started on The Partridge Family.

In addition to Laurie Partridge, Susan Dey is also well known for her role as Grace Van Owen on the drama series L.A. Law. Her second big hit of her career ran from 1986 to 1992. She won a Golden Globe for her role and was nominated for numerous other awards.

Susan was not part of The Partridge Family reunion on The Today Show earlier this year. I think Danny Bonaduce made some smart ass comment but David Cassidy seemed sincere when he spoke into the camera and said he loved her. She had always kind of stayed out of the limelight. I can’t recall her ever being in trouble or in any kind of scandal. It’s odd that nobody seemed to know the reason why she didn’t do the reunion. Maybe she just didn’t want to.

Susan Dey was a beautiful young girl and went on to become a classy actress. She stayed out of trouble and kept her nose clean. Her last acting credit was in 2004 and she seems to have just disappeared since then. Maybe she’s off enjoying life with her husband. I find it VERY impressive that she had a successful acting career beginning at a young age and was able to leave Hollywood with no scandals or issues that plague so many of the child actors. I wish her the best and hope she’s happy in her life.

As I sit here listening to my dog suck her ass (she needs her anal glands expressed), I’m inspired to write about Corey Feldman. Yeah, I know that’s mean and I’m going to hell. Whatever. Corey seems like an okay dude. He just seems to really like himself a lot or is so messed up that he pretends to like himself a lot. It’s one of those.

Corey Scott Feldman was born on July 16, 1971 in Los Angeles, California. His parents pushed him into commercials almost immediately. Okay, I don’t know if his parents pushed him into commercials. I’m just assuming. Corey was three when he started working. What three year old begs his parents to take him out on auditions?

He went from commercials to TV shows. He was on some groovy shows like Eight is Enough, Alice, Mork & Mindy, The Love Boat, One Day at a Time, Family Ties, and others. He also had roles in some of my favorite movies including The Goonies, Stand By Me…….um, yeah….I guess those are the only movies of his I liked. He and his best friend Corey Haim were really big in the late 80′s and made a ton of movies. I wasn’t into those. I was far too mature by then.

I watched Corey on the first season of The Surreal Life in 2002. Maybe it was the editing, but he didn’t come off as a great person to me. He seemed like kind of a dick and full of himself. I really liked the song he sang for his future wife. Not. He like grabbed her by the throat and screamed in her face. How romantic.

And Lincoln and Kennedy each have seven letters in their name and were both shot in the head on a Friday in front of their wives.

It seems like Corey is trying to get it together which is admirable, but I think his youth (and drugs) messed him up. I also think there were people who maybe weren’t too nice and/or encouraging which scarred him. Hey, what do I know? I’m not a psychiatrist! I sell teen pinups! I remember seeing these creepy men in my teen magazines. They kind of scared me. I was wondering why they were in my magazines. My magazines were filled with the loveliness of Leif Garrett, Scott Baio, Shaun Cassidy, Matt Dillon, and all those other handsome pretty boys. It seemed like the KISS guys should have been in monster magazines or something. And what was with the make up? I didn’t get that. I hate wearing make up. I can’t imagine having my face always covered in that goo. Gross. They always had to cover up when they went out because they didn’t want anyone to see them. Were they about music or a gimmick? Whatever. I guess it worked.

I did like some of the songs KISS did. I liked more of the pop smooth sounding stuff. I liked the song Beth which was co-written by drummer Peter Criss and was kind of written for his wife…..whose name was Lydia. I liked Rock and Roll All Nite (as sung by Joey Tribbiani on Friends) and I Was Made for Lovin’ You.

I remember when the members of KISS all came out with solo albums. I walked into my local K-Mart one day and the record section was decorated all in KISS stuff. I think this solo album thing was very highly publicized but kind of failed. The albums didn’t sell well and ended up in the bargain bin. I think Ace Frehley‘s sold the best, but my favorite was Paul Stanley‘s. I would listen to his cassette each night while I fell asleep in the summer of 1979 while staying with my grandpa in Turtle Lake, North Dakota. My favorite song on that cassette was “Hold Me, Touch Me”.

Gene Simmons kind of always freaked me out until I started watching his show Family Jewels on A&E. He’s a really cool guy. It’s weird, but I kind of love everything about him. I know a lot of that show is scripted, but he seems like a very mellow person. He’s a very hard worker and he’s obsessed with making money. Sounds just like me. I have new respect (had none before) for Gene Simmons after seeing his show.

I know there are many KISS fanatics out there. There are some fans who have everything ever made about KISS. They have the magazines, the posters, the dolls, the comic books, the pinball machine, the board games, the butt plugs. I made that last one up. I guess there could be worse obsessions than collecting KISS memorabilia.

There’s a lot of KISS history that I could go into with my blog, but I kind of just wanted to give you my opinion on them. They creeped me out in my teen mags, I liked some of their music, and I now love Gene Simmons. The end.

JOEY DOESN’T SHARE FOOD! Hahahaha! I love the TV show Friends. I watch it at least twice a day. It is so awesome. There isn’t a bad character on that show. Phoebe always makes me laugh with her songs, I love Chandler‘s sarcasm, Monica reminds me of myself, Rachel reminds me of who I wanted to be, and Ross is outright hilarious. What can I even say about Joey Tribbiani? “Grandma’s chicken salad.”

Matthew Steven LeBlanc was born on July 25, 1967 in Newton, Massachusetts. He graduated from high school in 1985 and started auditioning for acting gigs shortly after. He appeared in many commercials before landing his first TV series in 1988. TV 101 lasted only one season, but hey….it was a gig. He appeared in some music videos after that. He was in a Jon Bon Jovi (HOT!) video, an Alanis Morissette video, a Bob Seger video, and one for Tom Petty. He got another series with Top of the Heap which was a spin-off of Married with Children, but that only lasted seven episodes. He kept doing other crappy acting gigs until he hit it big with Friends in 1994. Yay Friends!

MATT/JOEY TRIVIA

• The writers of Friends didn’t originally intend for Joey to be dim, but LeBlanc put a different spin on things when he auditioned. I can’t imagine Joey not being dim. How boring would that be?

It had the pot head guy from Road Trip in there. (That’s one of my favorite movies, BTW.) I don’t think LeBlanc has done any acting since that show. He also divorced his wife about the same time Joey was ending. Sad…..

I think Matt does have something coming up next year where he plays himself. I hope to see him back on the tube soon. He’s funny. In my spare time, I , uh, read to the blind. And I’m also a mento for kids.

This is my review of Brady Bunch episode number 14. It was one of my favorite episodes as a kid. It’s about Marcia crying a lot. It’s also about her nominating her new step-dad for Father of the Year. She has to sneak around and climb out windows in the middle of the night to make this all work. She gets caught and gets grounded. She gets pissed off and cries a lot. She doesn’t get to go skiing with the family. Boo hoo. But as in true Brady style, everything works out in the end. This episode is called “Father of the Year” and originally aired on January 2, 1970. Enjoy.

The show opens with Mike on his way out the door to give a speech. Marcia runs up whining. “Daddy! I need help!” You can say that again, sister. Marcia needs help with math and I guess Carol is too stupid to help. Mike tells Marcia that he needs to be at a meeting. She gives him an ugly ass pouty face and Mike decides to stay. Yeah, right.

Marcia is cleaning up the newspapers in the family room when she notices an article about Father of the Year. Cut to Thindy waking up in bed late at night. She gets out of bed and wakes Jan to tell her that Marcia isn’t in bed. They decide to go looking for her. They sneak into the kitchen where they find Carol and Alice ironing. They suspiciously go over and get a drink of water. When Carol asks if the faucet upstairs isn’t working, Jan tells her the water downstairs tastes groovier. Thupid Thindy says “It’s wetter”. Smort.

Jan and Cindy continue their search for Marcia and finally locate her in Mike’s den. Cindy bursts in and says “We’re not thuppothed to play in here!” Marcia wasn’t playing. She was writing a sappy Father of the Year letter. Jan and Cindy try to get the letter Marcia is writing away from her (they think it’s a love letter to Felix Brown) and hilarity ensues. Mike walks into his office and slams the door. Uh oh. Bitch slappin’ time. Mike sends Jan and Cindy back to bed and starts asking Marcia questions. She told her dad she was in his office without permission because it was the only place she could find privacy. Uh….what about the bathroom? Marcia starts to walk out of the office all pouty when Mike reminds her of their slogan. “A wise man forgets his anger before he lies down to sleep.” Stupid. Mike then knocks over the bottle of white out Marcia was using and it goes all over the place. He’s an unhappy pappy.

Mike assigns a bunch of extra chores as punishment for Marcia. She doesn’t do any of them because she’s busy working on her letter for the contest. Mike gets tougher with her and grounds her for a week. Marcia doesn’t like that and crumples up her letter and throws it away. While lying awake at night, she has a change of heart. She gets out of bed and takes the crumpled letter out of the trash and continues writing. She finishes the letter and then reads the newspaper article again. It turns out the letter has to be mailed now! Oh my gosh! Marcia climbs out the window and I guess goes to a mailbox. I don’t get that. It’s not going to get postmarked that day. The mail would have already been picked up. Maybe she went down to the Chronicle building. Whatever.

Mike and Carol are headed to bed and decide to check in on the kids. They discover Marcia is missing. She could have been going poop. Oh wait, there was no toilet. They wake Jan and ask if she knows where Marcia is. Marcia then pops her head in the window and says, “Here I am, Mommy.” Mike really punishes her this time. The whole family is going skiing over the weekend and Marcia doesn’t get to go. So there!

Cut to a bunch of suits at the Daily Chronicle trying to decide which letter to pick for Father of the Year. They’ve narrowed it down to three people. How come Marcia’s letter isn’t all crumpled up when they show it? It’s nicely folded in thirds. She crumpled it all up before sending it. Mmm…….

Marcia sadly watches from her bedroom window as the kids teach Alice how to ski for the upcoming ski trip. Marcia looks like a sad puppy dog. The kids are having fun because Alice is such a goof. Marcia starts crying. I think she may be the ugliest person crying ever. I don’t think she’s an ugly person, but her cry face is bad.

Jan and Cindy try to cheer Marcia up. Jan tells Cindy ahead of time not to mention the ski trip. The first thing Thindy says (in her super short dress) is “Too bad you’re not going skiing”. Marcia runs into the bathroom to cry (or poop). Jan says to Cindy “Do you know who’s got the biggest mouth in the whole wide world next to you? Nobody!” Way to tell her off!

The crew from the local television station (KTRY) arrives at the Brady home. The only info they’ve given Carol is that Mr. Brady has won an award. Hamilton Samuels from the Daily Chronicle presents Mike with his Father of the Year plaque. When it’s revealed that Marcia is the one who entered the contest, Mike starts to realize that all the acting out she did was for this. I still get goosebumps when that happens. Robert Reed looks gorgeous in this episode. Father and daughter hug. Mike declares that Marcia is now his favorite child. The end.

I loved TGIF back in the 90′s. It was a great time. Although I probably should have been out partying and dating like most people my age, I preferred to plop my butt in front of the TV. Some of the shows on the Friday night line up were Perfect Strangers, Full House, Family Matters (I love Jaleel White!), Step by Step, Mr. Belvedere, and Just the Ten of Us. This blog is about Boy Meets World, another TGIF show.

Boy Meets World centered around Cory Matthews (played by Ben Savage) and his buddy Shawn Hunter (played by Rider Strong). Both boys became teen idols in the mid 90′s. Many color pinups and posters could be found of them in Teen Beat, Tiger Beat, Bop, and other teen magazines. Even though Ben Savage played the main character on the show, I think Rider Strong was more popular as a teen idol.

Boy Meets World ran from 1993 to 2000 on ABC and had many great characters during those years. Cory’s brother Eric was played by Will Friedle who was friggin’ hilarious. I think he was my favorite character on the show. Now in his mid 30′s, I fear he’s balding and overweight. I haven’t seen him. It’s just a suspicion.

Cory’s girlfriend Topanga Lawrence was played by Danielle Fishel. She looked like a weeble wobble. Her boobs always seemed huge and pushed up in her face. She dated ‘N Sync member, Lance Bass. Confused.

Shawn’s half brother, Jack Hunter, showed up in the fifth season. Jack was played by hunky Matthew Lawrence, another teen idol. Matt is the younger brother of Joey Lawrence. Lots of hotness in that family. I thought Matt did a great job, especially when paired with Will Friedle.

I don’t see Boy Meets World anymore when I’m channel surfing. I know that Disney owns the rights and that they edited the show to make it kid Disney friendly. I can’t believe they had to edit Boy Meets World. Whatever.

The first three seasons were released on DVD but due to dismal sales, the remaining seasons were not released. The first three seasons are also out of print now. Go sell them on eBay if you own them and make some money! There are rumors that those seasons are going to be re-released in a few months. Maybe I’ll buy them.

I loved watching Saved by the Bell on Saturday mornings when it was on. I was an adult when the show started, but I didn’t care. I’m even older now and I love iCarly. Who cares? It’s entertaining. Anyway, Mark Paul Gosselaar played lead character Zach Morris on Saved by the Bell. My favorite character was AC Slater, portrayed by hot Mario Lopez. Mark Paul Gosselaar was more popular in the teen magazines such as Tiger Beat and Teen Beat. That always made me wonder. I guess it was because he was the lead star of the show and had a really big cell phone, but Slater was so hot……

Mark Paul Gosselaar was born in Panorama City, California on March 1, 1974. His dad is Dutch and his mom is Indonesian. That makes for an interesting mix. Gosselaar got interested in acting when he was a young kid. He appeared in such shows as Punky Brewster, Charles in Charge, and The Wonder Years before landing his role in Saved by the Bell. FYI, the first year of Saved by the Bell was actually called Good Morning, Miss Bliss. I wrote a Saved by the Bell blog if you want to check it out.

I saw Gosselaar last year on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon where he appeared as Zack Morris. He was great! “Zack” agreed on that show that he would participate in a Saved by the Bell reunion which is being led by Jimmy Fallon. I believe all former members of the show, with the exception of loser Dustin Diamond, are planning a reunion.

• Still keeps in touch with Mario Lopez. That’s hot.
• Had no idea about the success of Saved by the Bell at the time as he wasn’t privy to the ratings.

I was really impressed with Gosselaar when he appeared on Jimmy Fallon and now have a whole new level of respect for him. I haven’t seen him in anything since Saved by the Bell, but I think he’s funny. The fact that his marriage survived in Hollywood for almost 15 years says a lot about him. He’s scheduled to appear in the new TNT series Franklin & Bash this year. I wish him the best and look forward to a Saved by the Bell reunion. Yay!
