CLAY AIKEN
Clay Aiken is a nerd. I like nerds. I think they’re sexy, especially if they’re smart. Clay stood out when he auditioned for the second season of American Idol because of his nerdiness. I remember Randy Jackson being surprised at the big voice that came out of the tiny little nerd boy. I don’t remember what Simon said, but I’m sure it wasn’t nice. (I love Simon BTW. I just think he could word things a bit differently.) I don’t think many people remember this, but Clay was cut from the American Idol competition. He made it to the round of 32 and was then cut. Bummer. He was chosen to return for the Wild Card round and won that which put him in the top 12. He had actually filled out an application to be on The Amazing Race when a friend urged him to audition for American Idol. Interesting. I think he chose correctly.
Clayton Holmes Grissom was born a good ole boy on November 30, 1978 in Raleigh, North Carolina. His dad was a prick so Clay took his mom’s maiden name instead. Good for him! Clay earned his bachelor’s degree in special education in December 2003. I’m impressed with anyone in special ed. I think it takes a very special person to pursue that degree. His degree alone tells me a lot about him.
Clay lost on American Idol, but I think he really won in many ways. He is by far more successful than the winner Ruben Studdard. I love Ruben, but I think Clay should have won. There were over 24 million votes recorded and Studdard won by only 130,000 votes. The phone system was overloaded and they estimate that over 150 million votes were dropped. Mmm…… One of the producers later on revealed that Clay led the voting every single week up until the final. So basically, things got screwed up and Clay should have won. Oh well. It probably worked out for the better.
Clay has accomplished quite a lot since not winning American Idol in 2003. His first solo album, Measure of a Man, went double platinum. He released a Christmas album the following year which also went platinum. He released another Christmas album in 2006 as well as other studio albums. Clay has done a lot of TV appearances and has also appeared on Broadway in Spamalot.
Clay has a son with David Foster’s sister, Jaymes. Parker Foster Aiken was born in 2008. I don’t think Clay and Jaymes did it or anything. I believe she was artificially inseminated. Clay announced later that year that he was gay. I’m glad he finally came out. I’m sure being gay in North Carolina is much harder and less accepted than being gay in California. I think it took guts for him to finally come out. Congrats to him.
Clay gives a lot to various charities. I think he’s a real good guy. He donates his time and his voice to a lot of different great causes. He got a bit freaky looking when he was doing Spamalot. He looked like he had put on weight and seemed kind of greasy looking. Whatever. He’s going out on tour with Ruben Studdard later this month. That should be good. I hope he keeps being the good guy he is and continues to make perty music.

GLENN MEDEIROS
Nothing’s gonna change my love for you
You oughta know by now how much I love you.
One thing you can be sure of
I’ll never ask for more than your love.
In case you don’t recognize those lyrics, they’re from a mediocre 1987 soft rock hit called Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You. The song was originally recorded in 1984 by the great George Benson but it failed to chart. Little Glenn Medeiros came along in 1987 and recorded it. The song reached number 12 in the U.S. Yay.
Glenn Medeiros celebrates his 40th birthday today. Yay again. He was born on June 24, 1970 in Kauai, Hawaii. He won a local radio contest in Hawaii when he was 17 by singing Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You. So I guess he’s kind of like the Justin Bieber of the 80′s.
Medeiros recorded a total of nine albums and released 11 singles. Three of his singles hit number one somewhere in the world. Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You hit number one in the UK and France, Friend You Give Me a Reason hit number one in France, and She Ain’t Worth It (with Bobby Brown) was number one in the U.S.
Medeiros decided to pursue a different dream in 1995 by attending college with the hopes of becoming a teacher. He attended the University of Hawaii and received a BA in History. He also attended the University of Phoenix (Hawaii) and received an MA in Elementary Education. I think that’s way cool.
Glenn got married in 1996 and has since had two children, Lyric and Chord. Those are both musical terms which I find funny. Are they going to have more kids and call them Treble Clef and Time Signature? I’m funny.
I believe Glenn Medeiros is currently living with his family in Hawaii and teaching U.S. History. I know he’s still involved in music and is well known throughout Hawaii. He was a teen idol with some number one hits but turned out to have a normal and healthy life. Go figure.

THE BRADY BUNCH EPISODE #13
Oh, hello there. Welcome to my Brady world. Please come in and make yourself comfortable and enjoy my review of Brady Bunch episode number 13. This was originally aired on December 26, 1969 and is called “Is There a Doctor in the House”. This is about where all the little Brady rats get measles and Mike and Carol can’t decide whether to use Mike’s “boy” doctor or Carol’s “girl” doctor.
The show opens with Carol cleaning in a very short skirt. Why is she cleaning? What do they pay Alice for? Peter walks through the door all happy to be home from school. He has the measles and a temperature. Carol calls her doctor (Dr. Porter) and asks her to stop by the house. Really? They did that back then? That’s cool. I want my doctor to come over and do my pap smear here at the house. Way cool.
Jan is the next one to show up with pretty dots all over her body. She and Peter become naggy little rats who constantly pester Alice.
Dr. Porter shows up and heads upstairs to Peter’s room. Marion Ross portrays Dr. Porter. Everyone in the world (unless you’ve been living under a rock) knows that she was Mrs. Cunningham on Happy Days. Anyway, Peter gets all freaked out because Dr. Porter is a woman.
While Carol is in Peter’s room telling him he’s dumb for not wanting a girl doctor, Jan starts screaming for her mom. Blind Carol walks into Jan’s room and right past Dr. Cameron, who she apparently doesn’t see as she almost runs into him. Carol doesn’t know Dr. Cameron since he’s Mike and the boys’ doctor, so she starts freaking out. Herbert Anderson portrays Dr. Cameron. Herbert is one of those actors you see everywhere. He was on The Waltons, Nanny & the Professor, Family Affair, and many others. I know him as the father on Dennis the Menace. Anyway, Carol gets embarrassed when she realizes who Dr. Cameron is.
While Mike and Carol are downstairs discussing which doctor is best, Greg, Marcia, Bobby, and Cindy all come home with the measles as well. Six little rats with dots. Awesome.
While Mike and Carol are talking (fighting) about which doctor to use, they show Mike fixing a drink. I think this is the only time alcohol was shown in the Brady house. Alice later in this episode talks about how Mike had to have one hot buttered rum after another when he was sick the previous year. Alchie bum.
Cut to the girls bedroom where Greg, Marcia, Peter, and Jan are playing monopoly. They’re getting along fine until they start talking about which doctor to use. Greg says “Women are supposed to be nurses. Men are supposed to be doctors.” Well aren’t you the sexist little pig.
The kids all have a different noise maker to get their parents attention while they’re sick in bed. They take advantage of their noise makers quite often. I would have shot them.
Mike and Carol bring lunches upstairs to the kids. Greg doesn’t like his meal and wants bologna. Mike says his meal is a feast fit for a king. Greg says “Then give it to the king and get me some bologna”. What a brat.
Cindy says my favorite stupid Thindy line ever. “How come I always get peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?” Carol says it’s because she loves them. Thindy says “Oh yeah, I keep forgetting.” Smort.
All of the kids get a different meal and none seem to be happy. Jan wants gravy. Peter and Bobby want mustard. Peter doesn’t like his broccoli. Just shut up and eat and think about all the starving children in the world.
There’s a scene in the kitchen where Carol and Alice are trying to figure out which kid has had which disease. Mike walks in and says a line about nobody having had their shot for distemper (that was Tiger’s medical history), but the line is overdubbed. Does anyone know what he really said? It looks like he may have said rabies. Why would that be overdubbed?
In the end, Mike and Carol decide to go with both doctors. Everyone is happy except for Alice who comes down with the measles at the end of the show. Oops.

GREASE
We go together like
ramma lamma lamma ka dinga da dinga dong
Remembered forever as
shoo bop sha whadda whadda yippidy boom da boom
Chang chang changity chang shoo bop
That’s the way it should be
Waooo yeah!
Grease is the word! Grease is an awesome movie starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. For those of you who have been living under a rock, the movie is based on the musical of the same name and is about two lovers (played by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John) in the late 1950′s.
BTW, my high school did this musical and it was awesome! We performed it several years after the movie had been a success, so everyone knew what our musical was about. We even got to go on tour. It was a high school highlight for me.
The movie Grease opened on June 16, 1978 and became the highest grossing movie of 1978. It surpassed 1965′s The Sound of Music as the all time highest grossing movie musical.
In addition to John Travolta and Olivia Newton John, the movie also starred Jeff Conaway as Kenickie. I saw him recently on Celebrity Rehab acting all superior because he had been in Grease. Whatever, dude. That was over 30 years ago. Take care of your drug problem. Frankie Avalon was the teen angel in the movie. Frankie is older than dirt but still alive. A young Lorenzo Lamas was also in a few scenes.
The movie was good but the soundtrack was even better. It became one of the best selling soundtracks in history. As of this writing, it’s listed as number 10 behind such great soundtracks as Titanic, Dirty Dancing, Footloose, and Saturday Night Fever. The title song was a number one hit in 1978. It was written by Barry Gibb of The Bee Gees and sung by Frankie Valli.
GREASE TRIVIA
- Henry Winkler and Marie Osmond were originally offered the roles of Danny Zuko and Sandy. Winkler turned it down for fear of being typecast (does he even sing?) and Osmond turned it down because Sandy turns “bad” to get the boy. I love Marie Osmond, but come on. Stupid.
- Susan Dey was considered for the role of Sandy. She turned it down after her manager advised against it. Stupid. I don’t think she sings either. I guess she could have fake sung like she did on The Partridge Family.
- This was a high school movie but none of the actors were of high school age. When filming began in June 1977, Olivia Newton John was 28, Travolta was 23, and Jeff Conaway was 26. That’s like Beverly Hills, 90210.
- Carrie Fisher was considered for the role of Rizzo.
- The scene in Frenchy’s bedroom while Rizzo is singing about Elvis Presley was filmed the same day that Elvis died. Creepy.
- Rydell High is a reference to teen idol Bobby Rydell.
- Future teen idols Greg Bradford and Michael Biehn have uncredited roles in the movie.
There was also a Grease 2 movie made with Maxwell Caulfield, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Adrian Zmed. This was the second Grease movie and there were supposed to be two more movies made, but Grease 2 sucked. I guess all future Grease movies were scrapped once Grease 2 became a disaster at the box office. Nice going.
I loved Grease and thought it was a sweet movie. I thought the ending was kind of stupid. Why did they decide to have Danny and Sandy fly off in their car at the end? Dumb.

JOSHUA JACKSON
I’ll be honest. I don’t really know who Joshua Jackson is. He was a teen idol after I became an adult. I’m writing my blog about him today though because I want to find out more about him since I sell his pinups at my website. To visit my awesome website, go to www.ztams.com (or just click HERE). Yay!
Joshua Carter Jackson was born on June 11, 1978 in Vancouver, British Columbia. I had a boyfriend who lived there. It’s beautiful there. Anyhoo, he actually grew up in California until he was eight. His parents got divorced shortly after that and he moved to Seattle with his mom.
Joshua is best known for his role in The Mighty Ducks series and on the teen drama/soap opera Dawson’s Creek. That was the time he became a teen idol and started appearing in Super Teen, Bop, Tiger Beat, and other teen type magazines.
